Sustainable Development Clean

We have a long and unique history of pursuing environmental sustainability.  We continue to pursue this ambition by focusing on areas of health and wellness, carbon emissions reduction, and waste management. In doing so, we expect to improve performance and meet or exceed international building standards throughout a building’s lifecycle.

Our priorities regarding Clean include:

  • Transition towards carbon neutrality
  • Build green and healthy communities
  • Reduce waste in our portfolio

2030 Targets

By 2030, we aim to:

  • - Transition towards carbon neutrality across our operations and developments
  • Reduction targets for GHG emissions and energy usage intensity per the SBT initiatives are under assessment
  • - Be known for our human-centric building designs that meet or exceed local and international health and sustainability standards
  • 100% new building achieve dual health and sustainability certifications

      - Develop and adopt a company climate change policy to mitigate and adapt to potential risks

  •       - Increase the proportion of total electricity consumption from renewable sources to 15% (This includes the electricity we would purchase from those certified renewable sources by the government)

In 2020, our highlights include:

  • - Achieved our objective ahead of schedule to decrease carbon emissions intensity by 33.3% by 2021
  • - 15% decrease in Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions intensity from 2019, 41% decrease from 2011 baseline
  • - 52% increase in overall Scope 1 carbon emissions from 2019 due to increase in property area under management
  • - 3,764 tonnes of waste diverted from landfill and sent to recycling
  • - 30% decrease in water intensity from 2019

Signature initiatives in 2021 will be:

  • - Adopt Science Based targets and commit to setting emissions reduction target in line with limiting global warming to well below 2°C. Further pursue efforts to sign onto the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign in the future
  • - Pursue dual sustainability and health certifications (WELL+ LEED and/or Chinese equivalent) for our controlled operating commercial assets; Pursue LEED ND certificate for all our master plan communities
