Shui On Land Won Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards 2007

On Dec 4, Shui On Land successfully won the Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards 2007.

At the Award Presentation in Hong Kong, the judging panel commented highly on our corporate governance, "Shui On Land shows enthusiasm about corporate governance and treats it as a foundation of business. Steered by a strong and professional board, the company is clearly committed to building not only systems and practices but also a strong and balanced culture that reflects its corporate governance ethos. The judges are particularly impressed with the existence of many checks-and-balances, such as high percentage of Independent Non-Executive Directors both at the board and committee levels that could counter the influences so often found in companies controlled by a single individual shareholder; an internal audit function that has direct access to the top, and the direct encouragement of whistle blowing mechanisms that help ensure proper and ethical business practices are adhered to at all times."

The competition was co-organized by the Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies and Hong Kong Baptist University, which will be conferred annually starting this year. The Awards aim to foster the highest standards in corporate governance, business ethics and board leadership in Hong Kong; recognize excellence; showcase best practices and accomplishments, and thereby promote a strong corporate governance culture.

Dancing Tiandi‧Speedy Porsche

When 54 speedy and dynamical world-renowned Porsche roadsters encounter with serene, elegant and fashionable Wuhan Tiandi, what kind of splendid spectacle will be ignited by the sharp contrast between dynamics and tranquility? On November 29, 2007, unveiled the curtain of an activity called “Dancing Tiandi‧Speedy Porsche: the Driving Tour of Porsches in Wuhan Tiandi and the Inauguration of Sculptures in Wuhan Tiandi for Sino-France Cultural Communication”. This activity was jointly held by Shui On Land and the Hong Kong Porsche Club. It also gained strong support from Wuhan Tourism Administration and French Consulate General in Wuhan.

A team of 54 Porsche roadsters from Hong Kong rode in the same line like a dragon and came into the view of spectators one after another. Wuhan Tiandi, standing in silence, was instantly motivated by the dynamic car dragon. Cars and buildings as well as movement and quietness added charm to each other as they met in a flash, which perfectly reflects the mix and transfixion between Chinese and French cultures. Being able to watch this spectacle in such a close distance, spectators caught every chance to record this exciting moment with their cameras and mobile phones. And meanwhile, gasps in admiration occurred everywhere as the cars passed by.

“The Inauguration of Sculptures in Wuhan Tiandi for Sino-France Cultural Communication” of that night exhibited for the first time 4 sculptures that are specially carved by French artist Jean-Louis Simon for Wuhan Tiandi. With unique perspective and prominent carving skill, Mr. Simon blended his own understanding of Wuhan Tiandi into sculptures and successfully created the perfect brand image of Wuhan Tiandi. The 4 sculptures full of power profoundly affected every guest present and they also became another bright landscape within Wuhan Tiandi.
