Shui On Land Unveils "The Lakeville Regency"

On December 2, Shui On Land held a series of events to commemorate the official opening of show flats at The Lakeville Regency.

First on the agenda were tours. Vice Chairman Mr. Wilfred Wong and Managing Director Mr. Lawrence Wu accompanied VIPs and property media from Hong Kong and Shanghai to preview the show flats.

Following the preview, there was a cocktail reception and jewellery fashion show for over 500 guests and celebrities.

In a striking contrast to Phase I of Lakeville, The Lakeville Regency recalls the architectural Art Deco style, mirroring the architectural characteristics of Corporate Avenue on the opposite side of the Taipingqiao Lake. The Lakeville Regency has 17 residential blocks comprising 645 units, each with a gross floor area ranging from 91 to 650 square meters.

Xintiandi New Year Celebrations Draw to a Close

Despite the bitterly cold weather, revellers flocked to Shanghai Xintiandi throughout December. On the evening of December 1, the annual Xintiandi Lighting Ceremony kicked off a series of seasonal celebrations. A 10-metre-high Christmas tree, colourful balloons and lights transformed Xintiandi into a festive destination.  Street performers including fire performers, minstrels in Christmas tree costumes, and medieval figures on stilts entertained the crowds.

The celebrations culminated with the 2006 New Year's Eve Countdown Party on December 31. Along with the concert and fireworks, this year’s finale included the unveiling of an innovative countdown timer featuring a white magnolia whose petals lit up to mark the arrival of 2006.

Over in Hangzhou, thousands attended the "2006 Xihu Tiandi New Year's Countdown Rave Dance Party" held at the picturesque West Lake. Dazzling fireworks and live performances by artists from overseas ushered in the arrival of Year 2006.

"Wise Man Takes All" Finalist Chen Xi Wins RMB 1 Million

After 13 rounds of fierce competition over the past three months, 23-year-old Chen Xi was declared the winner of ”Wise Man Takes All”, the TV reality show sponsored by Shui On Land. With his outstanding mobile phone gaming business plan and on-air performances, Chen Xi defeated his rival Peng Zhen.

During the final episode on December 10, our Chairman & CEO, Mr. Vincent Lo, hosted the "PK debate" between the two contestants. The judging panel also included Mr. S.S. Hui and other members of Shui On Land’s senior management. The judges evaluated the two finalists’ performances on their public speaking skills, business plan proposals, and interview abilities. Chen Xi's innovative business development proposal, together with his entrepreneurial spirit, earned him the majority of votes from the public and the judges.

Mr. Lo congratulated Chen Xi on his victory when presenting him the RMB 1 million cheque, adding that "I was not as strong as you are when I was 23. I am sure that you will have greater achievements than me". The organisers will monitor Chen to ensure he uses the RMB 1 million prize to set up his business.
