Shanghai, 12 May, 2003 - With the SARS epidemic affecting numerous countries and regions around the world, humanity faces its first new serious health risk of the 21st century. Those battling SARS on the front lines have continually done so with great dedication to helping individuals affected with SARS as well as ensuring the safety of the larger community.

In order to show its deep admiration and appreciation of the large numbers of dedicated medical workers in the battle againstSARS, the Shui On Group has proposed a contribution program called "Shui On Donation Campaign-Support the Medical Workers".

A total of RMB500,000 has been raised by 24 of the tenants of Shanghai Xintiandi, the Xintiandi administration and Shui On employees. The Shui On Group also donated a further RMB 500,000. The total donation of RMB1,000,000 was presented directly to the Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau to support medical workers in the fight against SARS.

In doing our part, Shanghai Xintiandi has taken extensive precautions to ensure the safety of its customers and employees by minimizing any chance for the spread of the SARS virus. At Xintiandi, we have employed strict preventive measures, such as frequent disinfecting of public areas, and carefully patrolling and inspecting all public and tenant areas. Frontline Xintiandi workers, including cleaners, security personnel and restaurant staff are all required to wear masks. Where possible, windows will remain open to allow the movement of fresh air, and "plate meals" are served in our restaurants at the request of customers. Together, Xintiandi's tenants are making a concerted effort to ensure a healthy and happy environment for each and every person to continue to enjoy  Xintiandi.

We strongly believe that with everyone's collective efforts, it is possible to prevent the further spread of the SARS virus and restore the well being of communities large and small across China.

About Shui On Group
The Shui On Group, developer of Shanghai Xintiandi, was founded in Hong Kong in 1971 by Mr Vincent H.S. Lo. Through the years Shui On has been built from a small construction company into a diversified group engaged in property development and investment, construction and contracting, and construction materials, with interests in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and North America.
