Red and Black Troop enters through

On 1 June 2004 AC Milan toured Shanghai’s world-renowned entertainment and dining destination, Xintiandi, prior to its friendly match against Shanghai Shenhua SVA at Shanghai Stadium on June 2. Mr. Vincent Lo, Chairman and Chief Executive of Shui On Group, personally welcomed and organized a delicated buffet for the team at the private One Club House of Xintiandi.

In honor of the visit, Xintiandi erected a "Shikumen Stone Gate" at the entrance of One Club House to represent goal post.  Young fans wearing AC Milan shirts greeted the Italian team outside the One Club House. The team captain Paolo Maldini autographed a soccer ball which was then kicked by one of the young fans through the "Shikumen Stone Gate," illuminating a bright light as a warm welcome to the AC Milan team.

Shanghai Xintiandi, where contemporary Chinese culture merges with modern architectural design, has attracted trillion of visitors since its inception. The visit of an International Football Champion again marks the place as a globally recognizable spot of entertainment. It not only allows people to experience the past and enjoy the present, but also gets a glimpse of the future of Shanghai.

The visit of AC Milan triggered a frenzy among the crowd of media and other visitors.
